The advent of cell phones has completely transformed society, making it easier and quicker to keep in touch with family and friends, work from almost anywhere, listen to favorite tunes, search the internet, catch up on TV – the list is endless. But as Dr. Travis Stork, co-host of the syndicated Emmy Award-winning talk show THE DOCTORS, pointed out in the episode that aired Friday, January 6, high cell phone usage can actually be hazardous to your health.
Here are Dr. Stork's tips to better incorporate this indispensable technology into our daily lives:
All bloggers have a voice and with that voice comes a heightened sense of responsibility...and power. Power to make a difference and forward causes which promote the greater good. I'm proud to announce that now there is an organized group of mom bloggers who are actively using their voice to bring about change...Mom Bloggers for Social Good.
The goal is simple: Use your blog platform to spread messages about advocacy campaigns, fundraising efforts and social causes to your readers. By banding together and using the power of our blogs collectively, we can reach millions of readers. That could make a huge difference!
If you're interested in learning more about Mom Bloggers for Social Good, please visit the website or follow all of the action on Twitter using the #socialgoodmoms hashtag. Together we can prove that the pen is quite mighty indeed!
It's that time of year again, when we make promises to ourselves that we will diet, exercise, and become more organized! Why not take it a step further and make a promise to yourself that you will make more of an effort to become "skin healthy"? After all, the skin on your face is your best accessory, not to mention the skin on your body is what holds it all together!
1. Make an appointment to see your dermatologist for a full body skin check, once a year (if there is no history of skin cancer). It can save your life! If you have melanoma, which is the most dangerous form of skin cancer, you should see your dermatologist every 3 months, the first year and following years, every 6 months for life.
This year, I've set several goals for myself as a blogger and one of those is to make my blog as enjoyable of an experience as I can for my readers. I want to encourage a greater dialog between my readers and myself, because I love chatting with you and hearing your thoughts on a variety of topics. I also think that those of you who come back day after day to see what's happening around here should BE REWARDED because I'm so appreciative that you've chosen to stop by yet again!
That's why I've instituted a FREE REWARDS PROGRAM just for Mommy Living the Life of Riley readers! At this time, you must log in through your Facebook account to take advantage of it...click the red "Rewards" ribbon on the right side of the screen to get started. Here's a brief overview of the benefits you can expect to see, just for stopping by and participating:
Mini Football Subs!
In Texas, football is almost a religion in itself! So it's no surprise that Thanksgiving and football are synonymous in my household! Here's a festive treat which would make a great appetizer before the official bird of the day hits the table.
Ingredients:
- Meatballs
- Spaghetti Sauce
- Shredded Cheese
- Individual-Sized Rolls
Directions:
- To make a batch, first prepare your favorite meatball recipe, shaping each meatball into a mini football before cooking. Once they're cooked, add the meatballs to a skillet of spaghetti sauce and warm them through.
- For each sub, cut a V-shaped notch from the top of an individual-size roll, place a meatball in the roll, and top with cheese shred laces. Finally, get the sandwiches in a huddle on a cookie sheet and place them in a warm oven for a few minutes to melt the cheese.
