Coleman Stearns Puddle Jumper Life JacketSummertime is a fun and exciting season for children.  With plenty of ice cream to eat, sprinklers to run through and bikes to ride, who wouldn't have a blast?  Unfortunately though, all of this outdoor fun can sometimes lead to tragedy.  Every year, hundreds of children die in drowning accidents in swimming pools, rivers and lakes.

Getting your children to wear their appropriate flotation devices can be a challenge since these life vests tend to hinder movement so badly and are so bulky to wear.  "Floaties" which are worn on the arms only, are actually considered toys and are not enough to truly protect your child in the water.  They can also be uncomfortable for children to wear since they tend to cause chafing of the skin around the arm area.  So what's a parent to do?

Thankfully, The Coleman Company, Inc. has created a line of children's life vests called the Puddle Jumper, which blends the best of a life jacket and arm "floaties" to create a fun, comfortable, AND SAFE alternative for your child's water safety this summer!

The Coleman Company, Inc. sent me the Stearns Blue Shark Puddle Jumper, which retails for $28.99.

BrainInsightsAs a parent, of course I want to always do what's in the best interest of my child, but I'm not always sure exactly what that is.  For instance, I am by no means an expert on how the human brain grows and develops.  I'd love to have a better understanding of what games and activities I should do with my child in order to best stimulate her mentally and physically.

If only there were an easy to follow and handy guide out there geared toward educating parents on how best to encourage your child's budding brain development.  Well, there is!  braininsights makes an entire series of brain development activity cards which contain 40 different ideas for things you can do with your child based on their specific age.

braininsights sent me the More to Do While I'm Two brain development activity cards set, which retails for $9.99.

Rhoost LogoHaving a toddler with a huge personality and tons of curiosity poses its problems.  She's as fun as a barrel of monkeys most of the time, but when it comes to keeping her out of restricted areas and cabinets, that's where I've met my match.

Apparently, the founders of Rhoost had the same challenge with their children and designed babyproofing products which will keep your kids safe AND not damage your cabinetry or furniture in the process.

Rhoost sent me the Edge Table Corner Protector 4-Pack, which retails for $14.99.

Oompa ToysAs you may have learned about me by now, I'm not the biggest fan when it comes to technology and our children.  I believe that imagination and creativity are precious commodities that are being lost in part by products that can do everything for us with the touch of a button.

In my opinion, this statement is especially true with regards to our children and their toys.  I am a big believer that children's toys should be simple, well-made and with plenty of room for creativity and imagination to take hold.

Our children's toys need only the power of imagination and not flashing buttons and screens to make them run.  This is why I'm so happy that the folks at Oompa Toys have this same philosophy.  They search the world for quality toys which stimulate your child with creative play and I was fortunate enough to be asked to review one of their wares.

I reviewed the Djeco Lunch with Friends from Oompa Toys, which retails for $49.99.

Tie BuddiesTying your shoes is one of the hardest things for young children to learn.  It is also one of their biggest accomplishments.  I can still remember the day I first learned to tie my shoes, and believe me, there's not a whole lot I remember from being that small, but that memory has always stuck out in my mind.

Riley is still a little young to learn how to tie her shoes just yet, but I was very interested in finding out more about how the Tie Buddies would help her when she became ready to give it a try.

I was sent the Fairy and Magic Wand Tie Buddies, which retail for $8.99.
