Being a first time mom, I'm finding out that I'm clueless about a lot of things and really rely on the mommy friends I've made through blogging to help me out from time to time.

Which leads me to my question...  How do you know when it's time to move a child into a full size bed?  My daughter's room is sort of small, so I always knew that eventually we'd have to go shopping for twin beds, but there are so many options there.  We only have one child, but I always thought that bunk beds were particularly cool, since children frequently have sleepovers.

Also, there are so many unique styles which house a study center or reading area underneath them, which is a really good use of space.  Of course, there's always the trundle bed option, but then that rules out being able to store any of her clothes or toys under her bed.

Positive Parenting Parenting is truly the toughest job you'll ever love.  What makes it so tough?  For me, it's the day in, day out teaching and molding of a little girl who I think totally hung the moon!  I'm constantly trying to lead by example with plenty of patience and understanding while remaining firm and consistent in my expectations regarding her behavior.  Of course, there are days when the love of my life simply drives me up a wall!

At times like these, it's extremely helpful to have a parenting go-to tool that helps you remain calm and in control so that you can continue to guide and discipline your child in a positive manner.  Parents, it's my pleasure to introduce you to...Dial-A-Discipline from Positive Parenting!

I reviewed Dial-A-Discipline from Positive Parenting, which retails for $39.95, and the MP3 Workshop 5 Pack, which retails for $79.95.

Foster Care and AdoptionDid you know it would take less than 1% of the U.S. population to provide a family for every child in foster care?

May is National Foster Care Month and there has never been a greater need to bring attention to children waiting for forever homes.  More than 463,000 children are currently in foster care and 123,000 children are waiting to be adopted.

Children in foster care are loving children.  They are children like Shaquane and Edlina and Albert.  Every child deserves to have a home with caring and supportive parents.

Help us spread the message this month to reach all Americans and teach them about the love and joy that foster care adoption can bring to your life.

Visit www.adoptuskids.org to learn more about fostering and adopting. You can also join our online communities on Facebook and Twitter.

KidnappingEach new generation of parents keeps its children closer to home, supervises them more carefully, and guards them from both neighbors and strangers alike. With the rise of the Internet, they’re even running background checks on babysitters and troop leaders.  And still, children go missing.

Every day in the United States, 2,000 youngsters are reported missing, according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Each year, 58,000 are taken by people unrelated to them and 200,000 are snatched by members of their own families. Sadly, there’s no relief in knowing the child may be with family.

Imperfect ParentingSo fortunately I have no disasters to report or discuss this week.  Well, besides the "biting incident", all was well and good.  Today I feel the need, however to discuss the absolute ridiculous ability that Facebook has over me to fire me up when it comes to parenting topics.  I truly believe I have a sickness of some sort.  Masochist anyone?

So I know that there are certain sites I need to just stay the heck away from.  In fact, they have been unliked or hidden long, long ago.  Do you know what I'm talking about?  Those sites that basically tell you everything you thought you were doing right is now wrong and you're pretty lucky your kid is alive even if chances are that now they're going to turn out to be serial killers?  Yeah...those sites.  Anything that goes on the co-sleeping/breast feeding tirade, I try to ignore by principal.  I know better than to let some total strangers get the better of me...or so I thought.

Imperfect ParentingSometimes, our 'imperfect parenting' moments aren't so funny. I wondered if I should write this post, because I didn't know if I was ready to get all serious and everything. In the end though, I decided that it's still an example of imperfect parenting- it's an experience to be sure, and I KNOW we all have these whether we are willing to admit them or not. To remove any unnecessary drama...yes, Linc is fine. He wasn't hurt a bit. Just knocked another couple of years off of my life, that's all.
