GaiamAutumn is by far the most fashionable of seasons, in my opinion.  It's one of the only seasons where you can get away with wearing almost anything...skirts, shorts, capris, pants, long sleeve, short sleeve, sleeveless, sweaters, jackets, scarves, hats...you name it!

I love layering several high-fashion garments together to create a unique ensemble, but I also love being comfortable and choosing clothing made from sustainable fabrics, which is the best option for our planet.  I've been a long-time fan of Gaiam for I have an untold amount of top-notch yoga and pilates workout gear and videos of theirs.  I recently came to learn that they also have a large selection of all natural clothing, including one rocking new line just for fall.  Keep reading to learn more!

I reviewed the following two items from the Gaiam Fall 2011 Collection:

Heirloom Cable Cardigan in Midnight, which retails for $198.00

Turtleneck Swing Top in Ocean, which retails for $68.00

E-LitesThese days, we as a society seem to always be thinking about which decisions will make our lives both healthier and happier.  Quitting smoking is usually a top priority for most smokers when it comes to decisions concerning their health and I have been very curious about some of the new electronic cigarettes on the market today.

While smoking a traditional tobacco cigarette is definitely detrimental to your own health and possibly even those around you, it also has other side effects such as yellowing of the hair, teeth and nails.  If you smoke inside your home, you'll also find that your home's walls and possessions will become sticky and yellow over time too.  I should know.

Both of my parents smoked the entire time I was growing up and I was a social smoker myself, until I finally quit almost five years ago.  E-Lites generously allowed me to review their E80 E-Cigarette Starter Kit as well as the 2X E-Tips Cartridge Refills in Menthol.  Keep reading to find out how this electronic cigarette could definitely make you healthier and happier in the new year!

I reviewed the E80 E-Cigarette Starter Kit from E-Lites, which retails for $39.99, and the 2X E-Tips Cartridge Refills in Menthol, which retail for $9.99.

Kids ExercisingCarrie Scheiner is not ashamed of being a bit of a math nerd.

But don’t let her degree in Math education from Rutgers University fool you – she is also a big fan of physical fitness, and her passion for both has led to her to think of exercise for kids in a completely new way.

"As adults, we don’t think about it, but much of our exercise regimens revolve around counting," said Scheiner, creator ofExploracise, an exercise DVD for kids and parents (www.exploracise.com). "So I began thinking about how much more fun, and healthy, math could be for kids if we combined it with exercise. That was the genesis of my combination of the two disciplines."

Packing School Lunches Back-to-school also means school lunches and whether you pack a lunch or your child buys lunch at school, making sure your kids are eating the right foods to help them through the school day is no easy feat.

Here's a sobering statistic:  researchers at the University of Texas found that more than half of parents scored an F when packing a lunch and did not include foods that contained enough vitamins, calcium, iron, and zinc.  According to the study, seventy-one percent of parents didn't include enough fruits and vegetables and 96 percent didn't supply enough fiber.

What's more, the evidence overwhelmingly points to the fact that healthy food choices are a huge competitive advantage for behavioral, athletic and academic success!  Henry Rinehart, a restaurateur and board member of the New York Coalition for Healthy School Food, shares his simple guidelines and helpful tips for packing healthy snacks lunches AND down to earth advice on how to become an advocate for nutritious and delicious lunches served in your school.

In addition to Henry's involvement in the New York Coalition for Healthy School Food and a dedicated daddy to 6 year old Jules, he regularly hosts school groups at his bistro on Manhattan's Upper West -- the critically acclaimed (and family friendly) HENRY's - so students can learn more about healthy eating, food preparation and the restaurant business.
