1st Step PRO-WELLNESS If you've been reading many of my posts over the last few months, you'll remember that I am doing my best to "bring the heat" in the battle of the bulge.  I still have about 7 more pounds to go and what I've learned so far is that my biggest deterrent to actually losing this weight is my inability to stick to a regular exercise routine.  For me, I'm just so drained throughout the day and it takes more energy than I have to get going to the gym.

Once I'm there, life is good and I'm proud of myself for having made it there to work out.  But every day the struggle to get off the couch begins anew.  If only there were a way to get that much-needed energy boost without adding a ton of sugar, caffeine and undo calories to the equation.  Now, thanks to 1st Step PRO-WELLNESS, I may have just found what I need to improve my energy level, lose weight, get lean and toned muscles and enhance my nutrition.  Keep reading to learn more!

BackJoyAs a "professional blogger", I'm sitting in front of a computer now more than I ever have in my life.  I wish there was a more mobile way to do this job, for I'm already starting to experience some new injuries that I know are directly related to my computer time.

As a matter of fact, about six months ago, I completely threw my back out and was confined to the couch with a heating pad and a lot of pain medicine for three days.  I still remember vividly what I was doing at the time of the injury.  I was sitting in my office chair in front of my laptop and had just finished writing a post.  I got up quickly to head downstairs so that I could start making dinner, when WHAM!, my lower back muscles spasmed violently and my back was officially done.  :ouch:

In talking to my doctor afterwards, she told me that it was probably my poor posture in my office chair coupled with the quick movement of getting up that caused my back muscles to spasm.  The spasm was designed to protect my spine from any serious injury.  Lesson learned...watch your posture in order to protect your back from injury.  BackJoy Posture + is an orthopedic seat cushion designed to improve your life and health by improving your posture.  Keep reading to learn more!

I reviewed the Posture + in Red from BackJoy, which retails for $39.99, but is currently on sale for $38.35 with FREE SHIPPING.
Get a FREE pair of Comfort Soles with any order of a Posture + as well as FREE SHIPPING on any purchase $50+ with coupon code "may12"

Best Skin Tips You wouldn’t take advice from a pudgy personal trainer, a chain-smoking doctor… and certainly not a wrinkly dermatologist. Women’s Health contributor, Francesca Fusco practices what she preaches. Here, she gives you your ticket to a beautiful complexion and gorgeous, glowing skin.

Use SPF powder

Every day, dust a broad-spectrum mineral sunscreen powder over your regular SPF day lotion and makeup to deflect light, making your skin look flawless, and adding an even stronger protective layer; it’s also handy for controlling midday shine in oily skin types.

Switch up your retinol

If you use only one anti-aging product, make it topical vitamin A, which unclogs pores, prevents the buildup of dead skin cells, diminishes lines, lightens dark spots, and makes skin glow. Apply a pea-size amount of the cream to your face every night.

Halloween Cookies Most parents take great care to monitor their children’s sugar intake, but Halloween is the one time of year when the rules of dental care are often broken.  The endless candy from trick-or-treating can wreak havoc on teeth, so when a dentist tells parents their children’s teeth show signs of decay it obviously comes as an unpleasant surprise.

Tooth decay is caused by frequent exposure to foods containing carbohydrates (starches and sugars), which mixes with the mouth’s natural bacteria to form a mild acid that erodes tooth enamel.  Common culprits are soda pop, candy, ice cream, milk,  and cakes.  Therefore, Halloween candy is public enemy #1 when it comes to teeth.

Battle of the BulgeAs many moms strive to set the best example for their kids, a new survey from Reader's Digest and Humana reveals that few Americans are making the right choices when it comes to living healthy lifestyles. Despite our best efforts to make healthy decisions, the survey of 1,000 Americans polled consumers on their health and well being and showed that many Americans are continuing to compromise their health in ways that can lead to chronic disease.

Humana Inc., one of the nation's leading health and well-being companies, and Reader's Digest, one of America's most recognized brands, announced results of a nationwide survey that highlights an intriguing fact about health in America – despite our best intentions, Americans continue to make unhealthy choices.
