My husband is just as big of a karaoke fan as I am and even has a business where he runs several local karaoke shows each week around Houston. So needless to say, when I heard of the new Vivitar iSing Karaoke Sound System from Sakar, I wanted to give it a try right away!
The iSing Karaoke Sound System is a great way to take your tunes with you wherever you go because it actually works in tandem with your smartphone or tablet, including Android devices. Simply dock your iPad/Tablet/iPhone/iPod in the 360-degree swivel holder and use your favorite karaoke app to choose your songs. The iSing Karaoke Unit then acts as the speaker for your music which also integrates up to two microphones into the output.
I liked the concept of the iSing and the sound was crisp and full. This device comes with one microphone, but because it can incorporate two, I would definitely recommend purchasing an additional one so that duets could be sung easily. The iSing is powered by an included AC adapter and also includes inserts for both 10" and 7" tablets, iPhone and iPod devices.
The iSing strongly encourages you to use the Karaoke Anywhere app which is free to download and available on both the App Store and Google Play. Unfortunately, I wasn't a huge fan of this particular app. Although this app boasts 50 free songs, I couldn't find more than 13 free ones and those were far from popular. Most were gospel songs or children's songs like "Yankee Doodle". Of course, there's a large catalog of songs you can access, but that comes at a price of $9.99 per month or $9.99 for just 5 download credits. To get 50 songs of your choice actually costs $99.99.
I find this price to be steep to say the least and don't like the advertising on the package which claims 50 free songs when that aren't even available. The good news is that to use the iSing system, you aren't tied to that particular app. It should work with any karaoke app, so you have the freedom to choose whichever karaoke app you like best.

I might have to get one of these - my aunt is a huge Karaoke fan, but it would be cool not to have to wait until we visit her to get our Karaoke on. I know Princess Nagger would probably spend hours doing it! :) It's a bummer about the incorrect advertising, though - hopefully they'll get the 'free songs' thing squared away soon. :)
Definitely Stacy! But watch out, once the karaoke bug bites Princess Nagger, there might be no going back! :)
We have been thinking about getting one of these for our child. I thought it would be something fun to do.
