How to Turn Your Smartphone Into a Portable Document Scanner

5/5 - (4 votes)

I'm literally amazed these days at how good camera phones are.  I can remember a few years back having a point-and-shoot camera that didn't take the level of quality photos that my iPhone does now.  Because camera phone technology has come so far, people are finding new and inventive ways every day to take advantage of it.

One such invention is from a company called StandScan.  They've invented a portable folding stand that allows you to turn your smartphone's camera into a portable document scanner.  The uses for this item are truly endless!  Keep reading to learn more!

I reviewed the StandScan Pro Portable Document Scanner, which retails for $29.95.

Turn Your Smartphone Into an Instant Portable Document Scanner and Copier

Imagine that you're in a meeting or maybe even at a PTA gathering and you've taken notes for an upcoming event that you'd like to immediately share with the rest of your group members.  Well, if you're like me, you've jotted all of these notes down on a piece of paper and now you're scrambling to find the nearest copy machine (if one even exists at your location).  If this fails, you then have to resort to scanning this document or typing these notes up when you get home and emailing them to everyone.  BLAH!  :thumbs down:

Now, with the StandScan Pro, simply take the collapsible stand out of your briefcase or laptop bag, put the document underneath and place your cell phone on top.  Snap a clear, high-definition picture of the document and then text it, tweet it, post to your Facebook group, or email it to anyone and everyone you'd like.  Send this picture to a shared Dropbox or Google Drive account too...directly from your phone!

With the StandScan Pro, you're even guaranteed crisp, bright white lighting so that your document looks as clear as though it were scanned or copied the old-fashioned way.  Just find a nearby outlet and watch the StandScan's LED lighting illuminate your page, giving you a professional copy on the go.

As if that weren't enough, with the StandScan Pro, you now have a temporary lightbox so that you can take professional images of small objects while traveling.  This would have been a lifesaver for me a few weeks ago.  With the StandScan Pro, I would have had everything I needed to continue to do thorough blog reviews no matter where I may find myself.

I highly recommend the StandScan Pro because it works well, is extremely affordable and will give you the tools needed to share pictures and ideas anywhere you may roam.

Disclosure:  I received the StandScan Pro Portable Document Scanner in order to facilitate my review. No other compensation was received. This feature is based on my own personal experiences with this item and is completely honest and objective.
