One of the reasons I love Thanksgiving is because it is an annual reminder to count your blessings and be thankful for the life you live and the special people that are a part of it.  Simple gratitude can make the difference between a life filled with joy and one filled with sorrow, for all too often, we are guilty of forgetting just how good we have it.

A tradition my family began last Thanksgiving is one where we each make a turkey having five large feathers.  On these feathers, we take the time to write what we are most thankful for and then decorate the turkey however we'd like.  During dinner, each person then reads aloud what they put on their five feathers and we all express gratitude to one another for the special things in our lives.

I make sure to write the year on each turkey and then put them in a scrapbook filled with other pictures and notes about our Thanksgiving holiday.  I know that this will be a great family keepsake and one that can help us count our blessings throughout the year when we need to adjust our "attitude of gratitude".

Besides my family, one of the things I am most grateful for is my health.  I've never had any sort of major health problems and based on my family tree, I have longevity on my side.  Of course, as cold and flu season rapidly approaches, I realize that everyone's health is in jeopardy.
