Caillou has a vivid imagination along with friends and family who help him navigate the trials and tribulations of growing up. Riley has never watched an episode of Caillou yet, but we had the chance to review two Caillou toys from Cookie Jar Entertainment. Keep reading to learn more!
Growing up is the greatest adventure, especially when you are 4 years old. Each Caillou episode is about a simple everyday life situation that feels so BIG to a child. It's about discovery and imagination. Watching Caillou helps children feel empowered and inspired. What Caillou does in the episodes reflects what every child does in their day-to-day lives. Caillou is an everyday hero and "a kid just like me."
Riley had the chance to play with the Classic Caillou 14.5" Doll and loved him as soon as she saw him. She liked his brightly colored clothes and especially his shoes and socks, since they could be taken on and off. Riley dressed and undressed Caillou over and over again and carried him around with her often.
Even though the head, arms and legs of Caillou were harder plastic, she liked giving his soft, plush body a squeeze and this soft body is what made Caillou so huggable. Riley seemed to like this doll and she has no idea who the Caillou character is. I think if your child actually watches Caillou on a regular basis, they will really enjoy this doll.
The Caillou Bath Time Vehicle was definitely the biggest hit in our household. Riley loves taking baths and playing in the tub with her toys until she is one huge prune! The Caillou Bath Time Vehicle comes complete with a removable sail, jointed Caillou figurine and jointed dinosaur doll. Each of these toys are easily taken apart and mounted inside the boat and Riley couldn't seem to get enough of taking these dolls apart and then putting them back together again.
The best feature of the Bath Time Vehicle is that the propeller located under the boat actually winds up very easily and propels the boat through the water, without the use of batteries. Your child can remove the propeller too, if they so desire, so the possibilities for imaginative play with this toy are truly endless!
If you know a child who's a big Caillou fan, I think that either one of these toys would make a great addition to their playtime collection. Both of these products are classic, well-made toys that any child would enjoy, even if he or she is like my daughter and doesn't know who Caillou is. After learning more about the world of Caillou though, I plan on introducing Riley to the television show to see if she might like it.
Disclosure: I received the Caillou Doll and Caillou Bath Time Vehicle from Cookie Jar Entertainment and Team Mom in order to facilitate my review. No other compensation was received. This product review is based on my own personal experiences with this item and is completely honest and objective. |

My two year old daughter absolutely loves Calliou and I cannot find Calliou toys anywhere. The ones pictured are adorable.
Hi Angela,
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. Amazon.com seems to carry a pretty wide variety of Caillou toys and in the press release I received with the two toys reviewed here, I'm pretty sure that it said they were carried at Toys 'R Us. I hope that helps a little in tracking some Caillou toys down for your little girl. I've got my first episode taped for Riley today...I'm sure we'll watch it tonight to see if she likes it. Have a wonderful day!
My 3 year old twins la,la,love Calliou!! Nothing makes them sit thru an entire episode like he and his sister Rosie do! I think they love the show so much b/c he's 4 in the show which is almost their age.
What a perfect doll for a boy to have!! ;) Every little boy needs a doll if that is what their heart's desire is. Thanks for sharing that these are available - I have never seen them in stores.
you asked - What's your child's favorite television show character?
well that's tough b/c my oldest, Nora 6 yrs. loves "Word Girl" and Olivia & Paul Thomas 3 yrs. love Fireman Sam and Calliou. So I'd have to say it's a 3 way tie.
Love from Texas! ~bonnie
