Music is such an important part of Riley's life at this age. She absolutely loves to sing and dance to any kind of music she hears! Many times, the only way we can get her to eat all of her food is to sing songs to her. I also have my suspicions that music and singing are the main reasons she's so drawn to Sesame Street, her favorite show. So, when Twin Sisters wanted me to review their 50 Toddler Sing-Along Songs CD, I couldn't say no. This CD sounded like a perfect match for Riley and her musical interests!
The 50 Toddler Sing-Along Songs CD Set from Twin Sisters is a wonderful collection of classic songs that we all probably remember from being kids ourselves. This is a 2-CD set with 25 songs on each disc. These songs are fairly short, which will aid in keeping your child's attention. I noticed that with Riley, after about a minute of listening to one song, her attention began to wane. But shortly thereafter, that song was over and a new one was beginning, which caught her interest all over again.
These songs are all sung together by what sounds like several children with high voices. I like that this disc didn't go trying to "modernize" these classics and kept them simple and in the manner that we have all originally heard them. No weird reggae version of "The Muffin Man" here, thank goodness! Here are some of the classics that I know your child will be singing and dancing to in no time:
- London Bridge
- The ABC Song
- She'll Be Comin' Around the Mountain
- The Wheels on the Bus
- Yankee Doodle
- I've Been Working on the Railroad and many, many more!
The feature of this set that really surprised me was that these discs also come with 50 fun activities to do with your toddler! Sometimes I find myself having a hard time coming up with new and interesting ways to play with Riley and I really appreciated finding these wonderful suggestions inside this CD set. What a great added bonus!
As you can see from the video, my daughter Riley really enjoyed these songs and kept singing and dancing to them long after I shut off the camcorder. The only critique I have of this CD set (if you could call it a real critique), is that the children sing awfully high and when I try to "sing-along" with them, they make me sound very bad! :)
I guess I just need some singing lessons! I highly recommend the 50 Toddler Sing-Along Songs 2-CD Set from Twin Sisters for you will have a great time with your little one as well as introducing them to some of the best children's songs of all time!
