With fall sports in full swing, equipment cleanliness and item-sharing on and off the field may get overlooked between carpools, homework and bedtime. But, skin infections like MRSA, a potentially life threatening antibiotic resistant Staph infection, are the cause of 56 percent of all infectious disease outbreaks in competitive sports in the U.S.
It’s important that as parents and coaches we do our part to help prevent the spread of MRSA. You can begin by getting involved in the Equip them Well program through three simple steps – collect, disinfect, donate.

Our family was colonized with MRSA while my grandson war dying in a big teaching hospital here in Portland. That was six years ago. We can't seem to get rid of it. We've done antibiotics, Hibiclens, sterilization, everything. It has a life f its own for sure.
Oh, that is so horrible! I'm so sorry for your loss and for the trouble you've had with MRSA. I studied it extensively when I was in college and it is so very scary. I think a lot of people don't realize just how common it is and how easy it is to contract either. Thanks so much for stopping by today and commenting!
