These days, I never leave home without my smartphone. A few years ago, I would have considered my mobile phone a mere luxury, great for making convenient calls to my husband while at the grocery store or for making sure I have a backup alarm to the hotel's wakeup call.
A mobile phone has quickly become for most people, a personal assistant. It's a place where you can schedule appointments, check the score of the basketball game, find the cheapest tank of gas in your area, keep track of to-do lists, connect with friends via social networking sites, snap a quick pic of something funny on your way to work, and oh yeah...still make phone calls.
I must admit that I've become quite addicted to all the bells and whistles of the latest smartphones on the market, so when I learned of the brand new Nokia Lumia 900, the inner tech geek in me started drooling! :dork: Thankfully, the folks at Nokia allowed me to indulge my nerdy side and review their amazing smartphone. The longer I live, the more I believe that I'm a bonafide sugar addict. My sweet tooth always seems to be on the rampage and I absolutely LOVE eating desserts of all kinds. I'm also a die-hard coffee drinker who likes to dump a ton of sugar in my cup to really get the morning off on the right foot. The only problem is, as I get older, all of those unwanted calories seem to find themselves right around my midsection in no time at all!
My husband and I are big baseball/softball fans. We've both played these sports since we were little kids and even went on to play in college for a bit. So it's no surprise that we'd like Riley to follow in our footsteps and develop a love for "America's National Pastime" too. Learning the basic motor skills associated with baseball are key, such as keeping your eye on the ball and following it into your glove, and now thanks to Melissa & Doug, Riley can start developing this level of coordination in a fun and easy way.
This summer has been vastly different from the one before it. Last year at this time, Houston was experiencing record temperatures, drought and daily wildfire alerts. So far, this summer has been pleasant and mild because we're receiving rain almost daily. I definitely prefer the latter, but unfortunately, my daughter can't play outside as much, which means I have to get creative on how to have fun while stuck indoors.
Picture it...an absolutely gorgeous summer afternoon. The day is long and your to-do list is short, which means it's the perfect time to get outside with family and friends and have some fun! But on days like this, sometimes we have a hard time deciding exactly WHAT to do and end up wasting precious time.
As any cat lover will tell you, there's one major downside to caring for our fluffy friends and that's the litter box. This stinky, smelly contraption needs constant maintenance and care so that your entire home doesn't end up smelling like an ultra-large toilet. Scooping the box after every one of your cat's "movements" is tedious, time-consuming and just flat nasty too.
