Better Homes and GardensThink back to the first recipe you ever made...the first time you stirred together ingredients in a bowl seemingly larger than you were, or the first time Mom let you crack an egg all by yourself.  Those little joys laid the foundation for kitchen competency.  Introducing kids to cooking offers a time for creating memories while exposing them to practical life skills.

Among many lessons, cooking teaches how to follow instructions, reading comprehension, time management and pride in a job well done.  Involving kids in the kitchen also encourages healthful eating.  Your child will appreciate a wider variety of ingredients and develop confidence to transform ingredients into delicious recipes.

Have a picky eater?  Helping to plan and prepare meals gives picky eaters a sense of investment in the process so they are more likely to try new foods.

I reviewed the Better Homes and Gardens New Junior CookBook which retails for $16.99, but is currently on sale for $11.55 with FREE SHIPPING.

Duncan Hines Cake Mix RecipesI absolutely LOVE cake mix recipes for they can quickly and easily be used to create desserts which taste as if they were made from scratch.  With all of the daily hustle and bustle, baking from scratch is a luxury I rarely have time for.

That's why I'm glad that there are some fabulous cookbooks available which use cake mix recipes instead.  If you haven't tried this type of baking yet, I highly recommend it and your taste buds won't be able to tell the difference.  All you need to add is flavorful ingredients, such as eggs, sour cream, butter, chocolate or fruit, for the distinctive "homemade" taste no bakery cake can match.

I reviewed the Duncan Hines Complete Cake Mix Magic: 300 Easy Desserts Good as Homemade Cookbook which retails for $24.95, but is currently on sale for $19.49 with FREE SHIPPING.

Love & FleeceTeaching children about diversity and the differences in each and every one of us isn't always easy.  Children can oftentimes point out these differences in a way which ridicules others, instead of accepting people for the way they are.

I received the Lamby Lambpants Cuddle Toy from Love & Fleece, which retails for $29.95.

When you buy a plush toy, one will also be given to a child in need.

Mabel's LabelsIf you have young children, then you've probably been amazed at just how quickly they manage to lose things.  Brand new jackets, books, backpacks, toys and the like can somehow magically vanish while in their possession.

Back to school shopping usually costs a pretty penny and no one wants to have to replace the new supplies just purchased within the first few weeks or months of school.  With a little careful planning and a package of personalized labels, you can stylishly secure your children's belongings, thus saving you money in the long run.

I reviewed the Ultimate Back to School Combo from Mabel's Labels, which retails for $42.00.
