Summer is the time of year for enjoying the great outdoors.  I always envision myself sitting in the backyard, enjoying the sweet smell of the flowers around me and watching the dragonflies buzz around my head.  These wonderfully lazy days are just perfect for sipping on a glass of iced tea and listening to the melodic sound of wind chimes.

The Woodstock Gregorian Alto Chimes are a perfect accompaniment to any backyard.  They contain 8 silver anodized tubes with a cherry wood top.  This set blended in seamlessly with our brown house and backyard furniture, almost as if it belonged there all along.

I also love the way this particular wind chime sounds.  The eight tubes deliver such a rich tune, unlike some of the high, tinny wind chimes we've had in the past.  I always find listening to them very soothing, which is no surprise, since these chimes echo the meditation music used in European churches since the 8th century.

What surprised me about the Woodstock Gregorian Alto Chimes from Plow & Hearth was how their melodies could be heard throughout the house as well.  When I am sitting quietly in either the kitchen or office, I can still hear their beautiful chiming.  What's more, I know my daughter is able to hear them through her bedroom window and has made many comments about the "pretty music" outside.
