Colossal Christmas Countdown: 31 Days Until Christmas!

I am a huge fan of building toys and discovered the K'NEX brand while I was a Science teacher.  I learned right away that K'NEX sets are of the highest quality and always challenge children's imaginations.  So naturally, I was thrilled when I found out that K'NEX has a preschool line of building sets and they just happen to be based on Riley's favorite television show, Sesame Street!  K'NEX allowed Riley and I to review one of their latest and greatest creations, Elmo's Space Adventure Building Set.  Keep reading to find out how Riley liked it!

Elmo's World is Riley's favorite part of the Sesame Street show, for it showcases her idol, ELMO!  I'm so glad to see that K'NEX features Elmo in their preschool line of building sets too for he is wildly popular with young children.  Elmo's Space Adventure Building Set contains a large Elmo figurine complete with official space helmet and a rolling Moon rover too.  What's neat about this building set is that Elmo actually repeats two different messages to your child if you push down on his head.

Riley couldn't wait to get her hands on this toy as soon as she saw the front of the box.  All she kept saying over and over again was "Elmo" and "Oooh"!  As soon as we removed the 31 pieces from the box, she went to work.  I noticed that she especially seemed to like his astronaut's helmet and the four wheels of the Moon rover.

Riley couldn't exactly put Elmo or the Moon rover together on her own, but I actually liked helping her with it for we got a chance to play together with this toy.  I don't know whether or not she understands what an astronaut is at her age, but I like that, through Elmo, I will have an easier way to explain the NASA space program to her.

I also really appreciate toys which will grow with a child and continue to challenge and entertain them for several years.  The K'NEX building sets are geared to do just that since there are so many right ways to assemble these toys.  The only limit here is the child's imagination!  If you need any ideas for silly combinations and additional ways to play with Elmo's Space Adventure Building Set, there is even a "Play and Learn" activity sheet to help.

Riley absolutely adored Elmo's Space Adventure Building Set!  It has large parts that she can easily grab and manipulate and K'NEX couldn't have chosen better characters for this age group than those from Sesame Street!  The best part is that all of the pieces are interchangeable with their other Sesame Street building sets, so the combinations and possibilities are endless.

I love toys that challenge Riley at many different developmental stages as well as foster creativity and imagination, and this Sesame Street K'NEX toy definitely does!
