Bialetti, one of the leaders in stovetop espresso makers and cookware, has designed a unique and time-saving pasta pot called the "Trends" Pasta Pot and they gave me the opportunity to review one. Keep reading to learn more!
Cooking pasta or any type of food that needs draining just became a whole lot safer and easier. The innovative and colorful "Trends" pasta pot features a locking built-in strainer that makes draining the water safe and easy. The unique shape of Bialetti's new pasta pot is designed to handle spaghetti and lasagne noodles whole, without the need for breaking them. It also comes in three bright colors: Purple Passion, Blue Cheer and Orange Spice.
I immediately liked the overall aesthetic design and warm orange color of the Bialetti Trends Pasta Pot as well as its 5 quart capacity and unique oval shape. The cool oval shape is key so that you no longer have to break those long spaghetti or lasagna noodles before cooking them.
This pasta pot is made from aluminum for perfect heat conduction and even has a nonstick interior on both the inside of the lid as well as the pot itself. This is great for now you will no longer have to worry about your pasta sticking relentlessly to the inside of your pot. Because of this nonstick coating, you want to make sure you're using only wood or plastic tools, so as not to scratch it and stay away from abrasive cleaners when cleaning this pot too.
Of course the best feature of the Bialetti Trends Pasta Pot is the well-designed locking strain and drain lid which eliminates the need for a separate strainer. This is great for now there's one less item I'll have to wash later after dinner's over. Having the strainer located directly on the lid is also safer because I don't have to worry as much about splashing boiling water on myself when pouring the hot pasta through the separate strainer.
Unfortunately, the unique locking strain and drain lid did not seem to work very well for me. I don't know if my particular pot is bent or what, but I had a very hard time getting the lid to lock. I finally figured out that the lid would only slide from one direction and not the other (which is strange for a completely oval pot) and even then, the lid wouldn't lock completely. Upon closer inspection, it seems that my pot may have been slightly bent. I'm sure if this defect wasn't present, the locking lid would function just fine.
If you are a home chef who would like a safer and easier way to prepare your favorite pasta dishes, then I recommend giving the Bialetti Trends Pasta Pot a try. This oval-shaped, nonstick pot with the unique locking strain and drain lid is the latest kitchen essential and the three bright colors of this pasta pot will perk up even the dullest kitchen!
