Now that summer is in full swing, our thoughts naturally gravitate toward the sand and the sun.  Who wants to be cooped up indoors when the warm temperatures and bright sunshine are virtually screaming for us to come out and play?  When I was a kid, I used to love watching the classic Beach Blanket Bingo movie starring Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello.  It was the perfect mix of surfing and singing and a virtual summer-viewing staple.

This year, Disney has created a summer family movie night hit with the release of Teen Beach Movie.  This highly anticipated film with have you and your family singing and dancing the whole way through and will premiere on the Disney Channel Friday, July 19th (8 pm ET/PT).  Keep reading to learn more about the beach party your entire family is invited to!

Disney Channel's "Teen Beach Movie" is a breezy surf-rock musical comedy that's sure to entertain everyone, making it the perfect choice for family movie night!  It follows teen surfing sweethearts Brady and McKenzie who together ride the last wave of summer which mysteriously takes them into a classic beach party movie, "Wet Side Story."  There, it's surfers versus bikers for control of the beach hangout...and everyone spontaneously breaks into song and dance.

Now, Brady and McKenzie must try to return to present day, but their lives may be changed forever when they inadvertently alter the movie's romantic storyline when handsome surfer Tanner falls for McKenzie and biker girl Lela starts swooning for Brady.  "Teen Beach Movie" is filled with great storytelling and entertainment.  It also has a meaningful plot that showcases positive themes like self-expression, friendship and youth empowerment.

The soundtrack features 12 songs influenced by surf rock, Motown R&B, rockabilly and pop.  Kids, parents and grandparents will all be engaged by the story, music, dancing and retro fashion and will have fun watching the movie's modern twist on classics such as "Gidget", "Beach Blanket Bingo", "Grease" and "West Side Story".
