It was definitely the very first one, back in 2009, after Riley was born. She was about seven months old and was sleeping through the night, so I was finally waking from my zombie-like fog of exhaustion.
My husband knows how much I love breakfast, so to celebrate Mother's Day, we all went out to a local restaurant for a breakfast with all the trimmings. I remember the waiters and waitresses there being so nice to me and were even handing out bouquets of flowers to every mother there. It was just so lovely to be celebrating my first Mother's Day.
Looking into the big, beautiful eyes of my daughter, made me realize how far I had come as a woman, wife and mother. I also couldn't have been happier spending that Mother's Day breakfast with my husband and daughter. At that moment, there was nowhere else in the world I would have rather been. To top it off, Michael and Riley gave me a gorgeous opal pendant, which represents Riley's birthstone. I thought this was a wonderful sentiment and I will always love wearing that necklace.
