My husband and I are big board game players! We have an entire closet dedicated to board games of all kinds, including the popular Scene It? games which are made by Screenlife Games. I had no idea though, that Screenlife Games carries products geared toward young children. So I was very excited when asked to review two of their popular toddler games, which Riley might really enjoy!
I was also sent the DVDiscoveries! Animal Planet Baby Animals Edition from Screenlife Games, which retails for $19.99, but can be purchased on Amazon.com for $14.72.
First, Riley and I tried out the DVDiscoveries! Animal Planet Baby Animals Edition. Riley absolutely LOVES animals as well as babies! She could stare at both all day, so I knew she would probably enjoy this game. It is geared for children from 3-5 years old and with Riley being only 19 months old, I was afraid that a lot of this would go over her head and I was right. But, as you can see from the pictures below, just because she was too young to really play the game, it didn't stop her from enjoying it!
This game comes with nine blocks which are color-coded to six different biome cards. There are also six different biome segments on the Animal Planet DVD. We chose the rainforest biome to start with, and she was immediately captured. She wasn't really able to follow along with the questions which were being asked of her on the DVD and she couldn't accurately put the puzzle blocks together, but she was able to stack the blocks on top of each other as well as make every animal noise she knew when different creatures appeared on the DVD.
I think Riley really enjoyed watching the DVD and seeing all of the different babies in action, and as a former Science teacher, I loved that she was already being introduced to the six major biomes on Earth! :)
Next up, was the Crayola Undersea Adventures Color Stories Interactive DVD. All kids seem to love to color, and what's neat about this game is that up to three youngsters can actually color along together using the three 24-page coloring books included. This DVD has many different settings which allow for a bunch of different stories to be told, but basically your child will color along and follow the directions of the story selected on the DVD.
Children are asked to predict what happens next, try and solve mysteries, follow directions, color certain items at certain times, and use their imagination to color items any way they wish. You can even download additional coloring pages from their website (or the link I've included in this review), so the possibilities are endless. I love how you can print off as many coloring pages as you want and then have large groups of children color these interactive stories together. In my opinion, this would be a great activity for a play date or even a party.
Riley is just now beginning to make dots and scribbles on paper and is really too young to color yet, but as soon as she's old enough, her father and I will be having interactive coloring story parties with her!
I really thought that both of these games from Screenlife Games are quality, educational products that any young child would surely enjoy. If your child likes to color or already loves animals, then I highly recommend purchasing either one or both of these games.
Disclosure: I received the Crayola Undersea Adventures Color Stories Interactive DVD and the DVDiscoveries! Animal Planet Baby Animals Edition from Screenlife Games in order to facilitate my review. No other compensation was received. This product review is based on my own personal experiences with this item and is completely honest and objective. |
