I have a hard time believing claims that a $40 At Home Tooth Whitening Kit will be able to deliver results which compare to a professional tooth whitening treatment, but that is exactly what Luster Premium White does.  For instance, a Zoom! professional tooth whitening treatment will cost you several hundred dollars and promises to whiten your teeth 8 shades.  Luster's 1-Hour White claims to whiten your teeth 6 shades.  I was highly skeptical and so my husband volunteered to try this out and see for himself.

I have recently had my teeth professionally whitened using the custom molded trays and teeth bleaching gel method.  I am very happy with the results, for I can easily pop the trays in and let the bleach do the work.  I was not very happy though, with the $500 price tag associated.  My husband has the same bleaching trays, but he has yet to use his.  MEN...go figure!  This is why I thought it would be great for him to try the Luster 1-Hour White, so we could unofficially compare his results with mine.

The kit contains very few items:  the Activating Whitening Light and Stand, Accelerator Mouth Rinse, Super Whitener, Four AAA Batteries, a Shade Guide to Measure Results and Instructions.  My kit contained a measuring cup as well, but this was busted open and couldn't be used.  Thankfully, I had a small measuring cup that we could use which also measured 10 mL.

The steps were simple enough.  Simply rinse your mouth for 10 seconds with 10 mL of Accelerator Mouth Rinse.  Then, brush the Super Whitener on each tooth you want whitened, one tooth at a time and between your teeth too.  Allow 20 seconds for this to dry.  Finally, hold the Whitening Light up to your front teeth and turn it on.  The light will stay on for 2 minutes and then automatically shut off.  Repeat this process 10-20 times.

My husband is not very big on things that take a lot of time and so he automatically opted for repeating this 10 times.  He watched TV during the treatment and said that although the application was sort of bothersome at first, you quickly got used to it and it was no big deal after about the 2nd or 3rd time.  Here's what his teeth looked like before.  Using the included shade guide to track his progress, I believe that he had teeth which were either shade 4 or 5 on the chart.

The only problems he had using the kit was that he said he drooled on himself a lot.  He didn't want to swallow while the Super Whitener was on his teeth because I think he was afraid that he would remove it from his teeth.  So instead, he drooled...onto a towel!  There is nothing in the instructions though that says you cannot swallow.

I think this was just the way my husband wanted to do it.  How did it all come out?  See for yourself...here's the picture of my husband's teeth after just 10 applications.  As you can see, they are definitely a few shades lighter and much less dingy!  Using the shade guide, he went from a 4 or 5 to a 1 or 2 after just 10 applications.  You can safely perform 20 at-home applications and it should take you no more than an hour to do!

Teeth whitening is a great way to enhance your smile and make you look several years younger and more radiant.  Professional results can be extremely expensive and the results they guarantee are not much different than what Luster Premium White 1-Hour At Home Tooth Whitening Light System does.  The savings though is enormous!

Yes, there is more work involved with the at home kit, but the one-hour required is similar to a professional treatment.  My husband completed the minimum amount of applications and still saw his teeth get several shades whiter.  I am very pleased with the Luster 1-Hour At Home Tooth Whitening Light System and think it's a great buy that actually lives up to its very large claims!
